Differentiation In Small Group Instruction

Differentiation enables us to address diverse learning styles, abilities, and interests, ensuring that every scholar can engage with the curriculum at their level of understanding. In small group settings, scholars receive individualized attention, allowing for more meaningful interactions and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

“Differentiation in small group instruction is extremely important to us. In every classroom, scholars receive personalized small group support. Our staff members work collaboratively during these sessions, with teachers, assistants, and everyone engaged in guiding the scholars. We believe this individualized attention is essential for every child's growth and success."

Restorative Approach

At Aldridge, we prioritize a restorative approach, fostering growth and learning through multiple opportunities. Engaging in ongoing conversations with our scholars, we encourage them to explore different perspectives and challenge their thinking. By nurturing this mindset, we believe we are continuously planting seeds of curiosity and personal development.

Strong Community Partnerships

We value collaboration with community organizations, businesses, and parents. These partnerships provide enriching opportunities for our scholars and enable us to offer a comprehensive education that prepares them for real-world challenges.

The Field Museum

Involving scholars in community-focused projects, our partnership with the field Museum allows our scholars to explore various issues. They previously tested water safety and now focus on city planning due to the Redline train extension. Encouraging scholars to think about community changes, empowering them to shape their future.

"We held a moving peace rally where scholars from third to eighth grade performed original poetry on important causes like environmental justice, food disparities, violence prevention, and bullying. It was a powerful showcase of their creativity and passion. Our kids are extremely talented!"

Spelling Bee & Knowledge Bowl

Our scholars enthusiastically participated in and dedicated themselves to our annual spelling bee and knowledge bowl. This year's knowledge bowl, focused on famous African American figures during Black History month, showcased their teamwork and collaboration. Their eagerness to study together on weekends and their impressive knowledge made choosing a winner a challenging task as they answered questions with remarkable accuracy.

Ewana Mims

“We worked very closely with our scholars and families to help them prepare for the spelling bee and the knowledge bowl - at Aldridge we're always trying to do something to make learning fun yet challenging.”

–Ms. Mins, Diverse Learner Classroom Asst.
